Review: The Pitt, "10:00 AM" | Season 2, Episode 4

One question going into this season is how long it will take for Langdon to fit back into a team after eroding trust. The two people avoiding the returning physician are not surprising; even before the accusation, it was combative with Santos, and Robby thought he would be on sabbatical by the time his former favorite was back on shift. Undercutting Robby’s carefully timed break is a call for extra doctors to work the holiday, which Langdon answered. While Dana thinks the universe is telling Robby to clear the air with Langdon, this collision course currently has no reconciliation in sight, thanks to Robby’s avoidant behavior. It isn’t quite as high-stakes as Robby’s previous unraveling, but his continued rejection of Langdon speaks to a rigidity that led to that breakdown late last season.

After a few weeks reacclimatizing us to the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, the fourth outing increases pressure without forgoing character development, making it the strongest episode of the season so far. Given the Code Black at Westbridge, having an extra pair of hands is crucial, even if Robby is intent on keeping the senior resident in Triage. Dana is often Robby’s voice of reason, but another person has entered the chat. The introduction of psychiatrist Caleb (Christopher Thornton) a couple of episodes ago sheds further light on Robby’s prickly exterior and his constant rejection of professional help. Caleb is the rare coworker who uses Robby’s actual first name, and he pushes Robby to admit his blind spots even more than someone like Dana does.
