Review: Taskmaster, “To void an oblong.” | Series 22, Episode 6

We’re just past the halfway point of Taskmaster series 22, and we’re in the studio for episode 6 with Chloe Petts, who unquestioningly eats Nutella off a task envelope; Isy Suttie, who goes to infinity and back; Matt Lucas, who goes to the Yukon; Nina Conti, who goes to Leeds; and Richard Ayoade, who engulfs objects in flames.

This was possibly my favorite episode of this season to date, largely because the contestants interpreted many of the tasks so differently. It also found the alignment of Ayoade’s comedic persona and his tasking creativity. I think we’ve seen it here and there (most notably in the tower task from episode 2), but every task he did in this episode felt both very Richard Ayoade and like he put some thought into it.
