Review: Taskmaster, “The butterfly centurion.” | Series 22, Episode 3

It’s series 22, episode 3 of Taskmaster, and we’re back in the studio with Chloe Petts, who wants to be the little spoon for once; Isy Suttie, who you should probably not get in a car with; Nina Conti, who blue herself; Matt Lucas, whose mom/mum is very game; and Richard Ayoade, who is going to end up with a roomful of Taskmaster props by the end of this season.

This episode had a few baffling moments, even by Taskmaster standards, but the season is heading in a good direction overall. One thing I’m finding interesting is the in-studio banter, and how disconnected the contestants often are from each other. One expects this of Richard Ayoade, and maybe I’m just projecting his standoffishness onto the rest of the cohort. Petts is great at playing off of moments in the studio and using their fellow contestants for a good-natured laugh, but I’m not convinced that they’re all at ease with each other yet.
