Review: Survivor, “Huge Dose of Bamboozle” | Season 49, Episode 10
Even with a near-meltdown, an eventful episode still feels empty
I think I can say I’ve officially graduated to reluctant acceptance with Season 49. This is a fairly bad season of Survivor, all things considered, mostly a result of the frustratingly chummy superfan cast and the usual issues with game design and lopsided editing. But the post-merge isn’t quite as dull as Season 48, when Joe and Eva (two fairly boring characters, I’d argue) controlled the game and nobody really did anything. People are doing things now, and I’ve reached a point where I’m consistently mildly entertained but never riveted. I honestly don’t expect the last few episodes in the coming weeks to stray far from that baseline.
